Jelly Cellona
Artist/Designer
-
Welcome to Jlye Cellona’s website a compilation of artworks, graphic art, and jewelry . The artist accomplished her degree at the University of the Philippines major in Studio Art. Her passion for painting, sculpture and installation led her to develop a form of art that merges the three mediums into a single artwork.
Her creation are mostly of geometric shapes that generate space and movement. Her creative design features give balance to aesthetic beauty without compensating the artist self-expression.This led her to a professional career in interior designing. The influence of Piet Mondrian and Constatin Brancusi can be seen in much of her works. She also dabbled in accessory and product designing.
As a designer in an export accessory company , her creations were exported to international brands like Mango, Marni, Steve Madden, Promod, Miss Sixty and local brand Kultura Filipino. Now, a resident in France, she learned much of her French in La Sorbonne Paris France.
Jlye’s passion for arts and accessory design led her to follow a workshop in Greta by Ecole Bulle Paris. This experience enhanced her knowledge not just in techniques but also confidence in her own creativity. She believes that the journey of an artist and a designer is infinite, that one should always be challenging the status quo, to learn and unlearn as she continues to hone her craft.
She believes that in terms of creating something in art/design , one needs to listen to the whispers of her own mind while being mindful of what is traditional and the usual. For her, innovation will never come via “copy and paste” — it must be dug deep down in the soul of the artist . The environment may influence in certain ways, but for her , an artist must have her own voice to quench the hunger and thirst of people to what is beautiful . Not just meet expectations , but shutter all things ordinary.
